Faculty, staff, and auxiliary employees now have access to Fresno State Gemini and NotebookLM.

To activate access to Fresno State Gemini and NotebookLM, students must first review and sign the Student Terms and Conditions for Use of Generative AI Tools & Solutions. This is a one-time requirement that grants access to all AI tools made available to students in the future. The agreement is available on the “To Do” list in the Student Portal. Once the form is signed and approved, students can activate their Fresno State Gemini and NotebookLM by visiting services.fresnostate.ai.

There is no cost for Fresno State students, faculty, or staff to use Gemini or NotebookLM within the Fresno State Google Workspace.

Gemini will be available as long as you are a matriculated student or employee at Fresno State.

Gemini is an add-on feature to Google Workspace for Education Plus that brings in the power of the Gemini generative AI models into various Google tools. It is not the Google AI Pro for Education premium model.

Education Fundamentals: Education Fundamentals provides the core Gemini tools.

  • Gemini App: Access the Gemini app to help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and problem-solving. You can ask questions, generate ideas, summarize information, and get support across a wide range of topics in a conversational interface.
  • NotebookLM: Use NotebookLM to explore and understand information from your own sources. Upload documents and other supported materials to create summaries, ask questions, organize information, and generate helpful resources such as study guides and overviews

Education Plus: Education Plus provides enhanced Gemini capabilities and higher usage limits to support more advanced teaching, learning, research, and productivity needs.

  • Gemini App: Access the Gemini app to help with writing, brainstorming, learning, research, and problem-solving. You can ask questions, generate and refine ideas, summarize information, and work through complex topics in a conversational interface.
  • Gemini in Google Workspace: Use Gemini directly within supported Google Workspace apps, including Docs, Slides, Forms, and Vids. Gemini can help you draft and refine content, summarize information, organize ideas, and create materials without leaving the apps you already use.
  • NotebookLM: Use NotebookLM to explore, organize, and better understand information from your own sources. Education Plus provides higher usage limits and access to newer Gemini models, allowing you to work with more source material and create summaries, study guides, overviews, and other resources.

Gemini/NotebookLM in Google Workspace is designed with strong security protections, though no system is entirely without risk. Fresno State Google Workspace Gemini license receives enterprise-grade data privacy. Submissions are not used to train AI models.

All interactions with Gemini and NotebookLM in Google Workspace remain within Fresno State’s secure domain. Prompts and generated content are stored safely alongside your existing Google Workspace data and are not shared outside the university.
